Review: Seals Tropical Tour Sprayskirt
Paddled for along time with a neoprene sprayskirt, but found it too warm. Changed to the Seals Tropical Tour sprayskirt which is made of waterproof breathable nylon and now I have a much better climate in the cockpit.
The sprayskirt is a nylon cover with hanger, waist adjustment and braces. The waist has adjustments with buckle so that the coating can be easily adjusted to your size. It is fitted with a powerful release handle made of plastic that makes it easier for you to get out of the kayak. The rigid plastic strap spins up the coating in a soft bow so you avoid water in the lap. On the underside of the cover there is a buckle that can be adjusted according to the bow that suits your kayak. There are supplied braces that can be fitted if you wish. The braces may be necessary if you want to prevent the tower from falling into the lap and allowing the water to run in.
I have removed the braces so the sprayskirt fits under my anorak and dry suit. Paddled in rain, wave splash and didn't get any water in the cockpit. Haven't tried the sprayskirt in rolling or surfing - think I will go with a neoprene sprayskirt. The Seals Tropical Tour is my favorite sprayskirt for kayak touring.
